Things To Help You From Losing Your Mind
If you’re like me, being alone for too long makes me want to do something crazy with my look. After a couple days, I have somehow talked myself into all of the reasons why I should dye my hair pink or give myself bangs. But no - not this time. I will push through, and so will you. (And if I don’t, then please excuse my pink, misshapen bangs.) Here are a few ideas to help the next few weeks go by easier:
Learn a new recipe
This is something I have turned to, several times this past week. I love anything that has to do with cooking or baking; but most of the time I am too busy to try something new. Now all we have is time. So, try a new bread recipe or fancy dinner. You may be surprised at what you can make on your own!
Binge a new tv show
This has the potential to distract you for days! I have already binged a few. Here are some of my go to’s: Atypical, Vampire Diaries, That 70’ Show, One Tree Hill, New Girl, The Society, and You. This is also something you can do while cleaning up around the house or working out (see below).
Learn a new craft
This is the perfect opportunity to really hone in on your skills. Something I learned how to do is make clay earrings (Hobby Lobby has all the supplies you need - clay of all different colors, earring hooks. Patience sold separately). But, the list is endless! You can even learn how to play a new instrument. A quick youtube search can be a great starting point for whatever your interest is!
Workout
This task seems so daunting, I know. The last thing I want to do is get up from the couch. BUT, I’m telling you... 20 minutes of a lil’ cardio will completely turn your day around. You will be in a better mood, be more productive, and be less anxious (God knows we need some help here right now!!). You can search different workouts on YouTube to find the one that fits you the best! I love a good dance workout. It's fun and gets your body moving. Or, one of my personal favorites, tv workouts! Find one of the many tv shows that you are binging, and create a work-out around it. Example: Every time someone cries in One Tree Hill, do 10 push ups. (you are sure to get buff this way because someone cries about every 10 minutes)
Call someone you don’t call enough
I think we can all agree: long distance is hard. Luckily, if you’re feeling lonely during this time, you aren’t alone. We are all going through the same thing. So call someone and chat. Take this time to help grow your relationships even from far away. Better yet, do one of the other things on this list with them over FaceTime! I know from experience that people WILL remember the people who reached out to them during hard times. “People will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” -Maya Angelou
If after all of this, you still want to do something crazy with your look.. I support you. Those bangs will grow back after a few weeks of being quarantined…right? RIGHT?!
