Healthy Snacks for Adults

It’s that time of year where everyone is watching what they’re eating because #swimsuits. Am I right!? I work hard each week to prep out exactly what I’ll be eating for breakfast, lunch, and dinner…along with snacks. I LOVE snacks. But here’s the truth. I work from home, so eating seems to be more of a temptation for me throughout the day, since I’m usually working in my kitchen. I start off really well, but about mid afternoon, I take a slow saunter over to my fridge—open it, stare, close it; then over to my pantry—open it, stare, close it. At this point, I don’t even think I’m hungry, but I always somehow concoct some ridiculous recipe in my head. ‘OOOooooo a MUG CAKE! Haven’t had one of those for awhile. One mug cake won’t hurt me…’ Or, ‘yesssss, take that tortilla, put peanut butter on it and then sprinkle with chocolate chips.’

Before I know it, I’m sitting here sleepy, belly ache, and kicking myself because I did so well prior my mug cake weakness episode. That is why I’ve decided in the last couple of months to keep some healthy snacks on hand, as well as, never buying the 'bad' things because I know in a moment of weakness I’ll get into them. (I lack self control with food, always). These healthy snacks really come in handy when I’m lounging at the lake or the pool and don’t want to feel like I ate something heavy or I’m going to bloat. Here are a few of my favorites.

Veggie Dip

  • 80 Calorie Greek Yogurt (plain)
  • Hidden Valley Ranch Packet to taste
  • cut up veggies

Mix Greek Yogurt and Ranch until you have desired level of flavor. Then, take favorite veggies and dip! This is delicious and you can barely tell you’re eating yogurt. PS. Did I mention this has 15g of Protein!?

Jell-O

  • Any instant flavor Jell-O
  • Reddi Wip Fat Free

Make your Jell-O and give it plenty of time to settle in the fridge. Then cut out a square and top with Reddi Wip. 1 cup of Jell-O is only 10 calories and has 1g of protein. This feels like a treat you shouldn’t be having!

Turkey Rollups
-  Turkey breast slices

  • Mission Carb Balance Tortillas
  • Fat Free Cream Cheese
  • Cucumbers

Put just a thin layer of cream cheese on your tortilla and top with turkey and cucumbers. Roll up. This will give you flavor and a little bit of a crunch to your meal.

Now we want to hear from you! What are some staple recipes that you go to!?
